Working with house builders for over 25 years, Tim has developed a national reputation for his practical and commercially-astute approach. The Chambers & Partners directory has described him as a lawyer who “gets the job done”.
Tim is part of Shulmans’ high-profile residential development team, and has acted over the years for most of the leading house builders nationally and regionally. He deals with site acquisition and development work, primarily:
- Site assembly
- Conditional contracts
- Development agreements
- Option agreements
- Joint ventures and collaboration agreements.
Tim has particular expertise in overage agreements and issues relating to strategic land and complex site assembly across the country on a regional and national basis. He regularly presents at seminars on these subjects.
Tim has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the law relating to residential development, which he deploys in finding creative and effective solutions on even the most difficult of site propositions.

Advising the Chatsworth Settlement Trustees on the development of land on its Yorkshire estate
Acting for Keepmoat on the delivery of 95 affordable housing units for Home Group on two sites in Bradford.
Tim is also Shulmans’ Managing Partner. He was voted Managing Partner of the Year at the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2014.
Tim is chairman for the Board of Trustees at Martin House Children’s Hospice.
