Expertise and Experience
Rob provides advice across the full range of IP rights, including patents, trade marks, copyright and design rights. Rob assists businesses to develop overseas markets for their products and services, managing international brand strategy and working with Interlegal colleagues to enforce rights and resolve disputes around the world. Rob’s recent international work includes dealing with matters in Brazil, Canada, USA, India, Italy and Germany. His clients range from large multinationals to owner-managed businesses, whether based in the UK or overseas.
Rob is well known for his work supporting packaging, fragrance, cosmetic and retail businesses. Rob was successful as the lead legal adviser in the important design right decision of Albert Packaging Limited and Others v. Nampak Cartons & Healthcare Limited ( EWPCC 15). He acts for a number of fragrance and cosmetic manufacturers and suppliers, in respect of their activities in the UK and around the world; this includes licensing rights from household name celebrities and sport stars and advising on licensing deals with Disney and other well-known brands.
He is also kept busy by the media and entertainment industries and is also recognised in the Legal 500 for his work in these sectors. Recent work includes advising a sports management agency, undertaking work for an international darts tournament and advising in relation to the sponsorship of a professional boxer and in the production of animation, film and other imagery.
Rob is also an accredited mediator and is on the International Trademark Association's Panel of Trademark Mediators, offering other lawyers an alternative method of dispute resolution.

Assistance with Funding
Rob is also able to assist businesses with obtaining funding. In particular, Rob is skilled at advising clients in navigating the often challenging routes to grant funding, which often benefits from his extensive network of contacts and his knowledge of the relevant “gatekeepers” within the various funding organisations.
Rob sits on the Parallel Imports Committee of INTA (International Trademark Association), the Leeds Enterprise Partnership's International Trade Working Group, and is a member of the LESI (Licensing Executives Society International) and SCL (Society for Computers and Law).
He is the principal contact for Electronics Yorkshire and a regular speaker at IP and IT seminars.
