Shulmans contributes to the future of housing debate

In October 2018, Shulmans was a partner on The Insider Future of Housing Breakfast which brought together the region’s key figures in the sector for a debate on future housing delivery.

Head of Planning Amanda Beresford joined the panel which also included Cllr. Peter Box, leader of Wakefield Council; Brian Ham, executive director of development, Home Group; Nigel Barclay, head of investments – North at Homes England; Craig Liddell, relationships director at Ilke Homes; Andrew Cook, investment manager at M&G Real Estate; and Richard Conroy, chief executive at Conroy Brook Group.

Discussion on the day considered the future of the Help to Buy agreement which comes to an end in 2021 and how new innovation in modular housing could help to meet demand. During the debate Amanda was asked about the delivery of housing and was quoted as part of the coverage as responding “with more pressure to get homes out of the ground, you could see a narrative being made that as modular is speedier out of the ground it’s easier to gain planning permission against traditional housing.” The panel moved on to discussing the benefits and challenges of different types of housing for developers.

The debate was held in front of an audience of over 150 leaders in the sector and was brought together by Yorkshire Business Insider.
