Shulmans appoints 3 new partners

We are pleased to announce that, as we are starting a new financial year, our firm now counts 3 news partners.

Lyn Dario (Environmental & Regulatory) and Helen Hill (Property Litigation) were promoted from associate to partner on 1 April, through our “Forward with Shulmans” (FwS) career progression scheme.

Lyn Dario is a specialist regulatory lawyer with 15 years’ experience in her field. Lyn undertakes both contentious and non-contentious work, advising on a diverse range of subjects such as environmental law, health and safety, food safety and trading standards. She also works alongside other members of the Shulmans commercial team on financial services and competition compliance.

Lyn is also a Board Member and a Director of YCF (formerly known as Yorkshire Chemical Focus). She is regularly invited to speak at conferences organised by national and regional organisations such as the RICS and Electronics Yorkshire.

Helen Hill is a property litigator, whose work covers a range of areas, including Landlord and tenant disputes, business lease renewals, telecommunications leases, dilapidations and possession claims.

Helen is a member of the Property Litigation Association, the BCSC (British Council of Shopping Centres) and the RICS Dilapidations Forum. She also leads on the firm’s support of the Leeds Community Foundation through her membership of the Leeds 100 Club.

The firm also welcomes Emma Roe, who is joining us as a partner from DWF. Emma specialises in commercial contracts, intellectual property and technology matters, and advises clients nationally and internationally on areas such as:

  • manufacturing and supply agreements;
  • distribution and agency contracts;
  • sponsorship and partnering arrangements;
  • data protection and processing arrangements;
  • Bribery Act compliance;
  • e-commerce and website regulation;
  • intellectual property licensing and information technology matters;
  • brand and technology exploitation;
  • ICT procurement; and
  • outsourcing arrangements.

Tim Halstead, Shulmans’ Managing Partner, said: “We welcome Emma to the firm. It is great that we are able to attract lawyers of her experience and calibre. She will complement other members of our fast-growing commercial team. I offer my congratulations to her, Lyn and Helen, all of whom will make a great contribution to the partnership.”

Rosemary Edwards, a member of our Management Board and Chair of the “Forward with Shulmans” career progression panel, added: “I am delighted that Lyn and Helen are being promoted to partner. Both are recognised experts in their fields. I am particularly pleased to see that the FwS programme has worked both for someone who trained with the firm and one who joined us after spending much of her career elsewhere."
