Dual appointment for Head of Commercial Property

Simon Jackson, head of our commercial property team, has two reasons to celebrate, following a promotion to the board at Shulmans and also having been appointed President of the Leeds Jewish Representative Council.

Simon, who lives in Leeds, first joined us in 1988 and was promoted to partner in 1991. He has headed the commercial property department for 20 years, during which time it has developed into one of the most respected teams in Yorkshire.

His involvement with the Leeds Jewish Representative Council began 14 years ago. The Council acts as an umbrella organisation for the Leeds Jewish community, fostering links within the wider population. In his role as President, Simon will speak on behalf of the community, and liaise with Leeds City Council and wider civic bodies, getting involved in issues relating to security, religion, interfaith relations, culture and society, as well as remembrance events linked to the Holocaust and those lost in conflict. In addition, the Council undertakes essential fundraising activities to help benefit the welfare of Jews across Leeds, the UK and Israel. Simon has been appointed as president for a three-year term.

Simon said: “It’s certainly been a busy time for me! I’m delighted to have joined the board at Shulmans. It’s a very exciting period for the firm with the planned move to Wellington Place, and the property team continues to grow with many new appointments joining the team.

“I’m also very honoured to have been elected president of the Leeds Jewish Representative Council and it is not a role I undertake lightly. I hope to represent the community with dignity and respect and to further its awareness within the wider world.”

Simon was born and raised in the city, attending Leeds Grammar School and the University of Leeds, and is married with three children.
