Business Development and Client Relationship Manager (Debt Recovery Services)

In recent years, our debt recovery unit has won major pieces of commercial work, and we now have an extensive client list which ranges from smaller, owner-managed businesses to large corporate firms that are household names. These clients are spread across the UK and come from many different sectors.

We are now looking to appoint a new Business Development and Client Relationship Manager, who will have responsibility for developing our commercial debt recovery services, winning new clients as well as effectively supporting our existing clients.

This is a varied and demanding role that cannot be performed purely from behind a desk nor within the confines of a normal ‘nine-to-five’ working week.

We expect our Business Development and Client Relationship Manager to be visible and available to our clients.

Client relationship management

You will manage our on-going relationships with clients to ensure that the debt recovery unit is delivering the levels of service expected, that all targets and other appropriate SLAs are being met and that our debt recovery services are monitored, assessed, benchmarked and amended, in order to maintain a first-class client service.

You will need to develop new work opportunities, using appropriate strategies and business development activities and resources to achieve this (for example, using social media and attending networking events).

You will be involved in tendering processes and contract renewals and play a key role in ensuring that our profile for debt recovery services is maintained within the market place.

Service delivery and strategic planning

When it comes to service delivery, you will be expected to provide technical and strategic advice to clients, responding to their requests and requirements, appropriately.

You will work closely in support of partners, in order to provide knowledge, information and advice that will support us in developing and implementing our strategic objectives. This will include identifying activities and services which will enhance the commercial aims of the firm.

Key skills and experiences

Our preferred candidate for this role will have proven business development and/or sales experience.

You should be an excellent communicator, able to demonstrate effective networking abilities and have a successful track record in delivering commercial results, as a consequence of how you have developed and managed your commercial relationships.

Ideally, your career will show previous experience of working in a similar capacity within the same or a related sector.

Financially astute and sensitive to commercial drivers and influencers, you should also possess a breadth of commercial and practical knowledge of debt recovery services (and of volume business processes) and have an up-to-date understanding of this market.

You will need to be flexible and adaptable; this role will inevitably require you to travel and to represent the firm at a range of networking and social events.
