“I wanted the chance to run my own department and the same career progression as a solicitor”

Although happy in my previous firm in Newcastle, I couldn’t go any further there as a non-solicitor.  Therefore, I wanted to find a firm in the North of England that would offer me the same career progression choices as a lawyer.

The fact that Shulmans is very commercial was important to me. Also, even at my interview I saw that it could be possible to be given the scope to build my own department.

At the interview I felt very comfortable with managing partner Tim Halstead and I got a sense of the ethos and culture of the firm simply from meeting him.  Shulmans is a very personal firm and that is reflected in the way in which we work with clients.
