Simple Motivation
Shulmans was one of the finalists in the Best Employer Category in the Yorkshire Post Business Excellence Awards 2007. The chairman of the panel of judges, Dr David Spicer, Associate Dean at Bradford University School of Management, writing in an article in the HR Director magazine says:
"For the last two years I have led the team judging the region’s best
company to work for, and have seen at first hand an incredible level of
engagement with employees in the finalist companies. What stood out
with all of them, regardless of their sector, was that employees felt
valued and were, therefore, motivated, and that this was something
that comes about through activities beyond the basic provision of
incentives and rewards.
"All these first-rate employers recognise that people are key drivers
of any business and that there is a direct link between excellent people
management, great client service and business performance. Any
organisation or business wanting to bring about a culture of motivation
must first of all create a people-centred environment.
You can see the indications of a great employer from the minute
you walk through the door because the workplace will clearly show
that the firm values its employees and that they are key to the business."
