International

A substantial part of our work is international, much of it generated through our long standing membership of Interlegal, a strong network of like-minded law firms from across the world.

Shulmans is also an Official Partner of the World Trade Centre Hull and Humber.

All our partners are involved in international deals.  Recent examples of work include:

• A UK ISP and software company was expanding into Europe.  Working through our Interlegal connections across several countries we were able to draft contracts, address trademark issues and examine public law and telecommunications regulations.  

• An American company, setting up branches in different countries in Europe, needed a common contract of employment.  Within two weeks, we drafted an initial contract, gathered feedback on it from our Interlegal colleagues around Europe and produced a final version that would work in each country.

• A UK multi-national was acquired by a Swedish parent with the deal being completed in the UK.  Swedish stock exchange approval was needed and within 24 hours we had identified and addressed all stock exchange issues and received approval. The clients were ‘dumbfounded’ at the speed in which this was achieved.

• A German company was developing a product in the UK through a joint venture agreement.  They needed global distribution agreements to develop and launch the product worldwide with English documents subject to German law.  We were able to organise this within weeks with support from the Interlegal network.
